ABOUT Terita M. Hewlett, JD, MBA, LL. M.

Terita M. Hewlett, Esq is the founding member of Hewlett Law Firm, PLLC.

Terita majored in History and Political Science at Virginia Union University. She furthered her studies at North Carolina Central University where she acquired her Master of Business Administration and Doctor of Jurisprudence in the year 2000.  She continued her matriculation at the University of Missouri, where she obtained her Master of Law (LL.M) in Urban Affairs.

Prior to moving to Memphis, Attorney Hewlett worked in a variety of fields including telecommunications, real estate, and the oil industry.

She used all of her training and experience to start a minority-owned business, Hewlett Law Firm, PLLC in 2009 where she has employed several Memphians.  She has further served as a mentor to countless paralegal student interns and law students, by providing a mechanism where they can work and learn in a teachable environment.

In addition to managing her own law firm, Attorney Hewlett serves as Adjunct Professor at Southwest Tennessee Community college where she teaches Paralegal students in the Business and Legal Studies Department.

She also serves as Outside Counsel for the City Prosecutor’s Office for the City of Memphis, Traffic Division.

She is a member of the Ben F. Jones Chapter of the National Bar Association, Memphis Bar Association, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.  She attends Hope Church Memphis.

In addition to the State of Tennessee, Terita Hewlett has been licensed to practice law in the State of Kansas, United States District Court for the District of Kansas, United States District Court Western District Tennessee, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Her judicial experience includes prior service on occasion as Special Judge in both City Court and General Sessions Criminal Court.
